கூடி வரும் கூட்டம் கொள்ளி வரை வருமா? அனாதை உடல்களை தகனம் செய்யும் அற்புத மனிதர்
பல்லாவரம் நகராட்சிக்குட்பட்ட, குரோம்பேட்டை, லட்சுமிநகர், இரண்டாவது குறுக்கு தெருவை சேர்ந்தவர் ஜி.ராகவன்,83.’காயத்ரி டிரஸ்ட்’ என்ற அமைப்பை நடத்தி வரும் இவர், 37 ஆண்டுகளாக, அனாதை உடல்களை தகனம் செய்து, மனித நேயம் மறையவில்லை என்பதை உணர்த்தி வருகிறார்.
இச்சேவையில் 1984 முதல் ஈடுபட்டு வரும் ராகவன், இதுவரை 700க்கும் அதிகமான உடல்களை தகனம் செய்துள்ளார். சமீபகாலமாக எஸ்.ரவீச்சந்திரன், 74, என்பவரும், இச்சேவையில் தன்னை ஈடுபடுத்தி கொண்டுள்ளார். இந்த அமைப்பினர், அனாதை உடல்களை எடுத்து வர, மூன்று அமரர் ஊர்திகளை சொந்தமாக வைத்துள்ளனர். முதியோர் இல்லம், காவல் நிலையங்களில் இருந்து, ‘காயத்ரி டிரஸ்ட்’ அமைப்புக்கு வரும், ஆவணங்களை சரிபார்த்த பின், தகனம் செய்யும் பொறுப்பை ஏற்கின்றனர்.

அப்போது சாவித்திரிக்கு வயது 16. பள்ளிக்குப் போகும்போதும் வரும்போதும் கூவக்கரை குப்பங்களில் அல்லலுறும் பெண்களைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டே செல்வார். “நாம எவ்வளவு வசதியா இருக்கோம்… அவங்களும் நம்மை மாதிரி மனுஷங்கதானே… அவங்க மட்டும் ஏன் அந்தச் சாக்கடைக்குப் பக்கத்துல கிடந்து அல்லல்படுறாங்க” என்கிற கேள்வி அவருக்கு உதித்துக்கொண்டே இருந்தது. அந்தக் கேள்விதான் ‘விஷ்ராந்தி’க்கு விதை.
சேவை – ஒரு வழக்கை
அந்த குழந்தைக்கு வயது 3 அல்லது 4 இருக்கலாம். நடக்கும்போது விழுந்தான். அம்மா சிரித்து “செல்லம் .. எழுந்திரு பார்க்கலாம்’ என்றாள். குழந்தை எழுந்தது; சிரித்தது; அம்மா அவனை வாரி எடுத்து கொண்டாள். அடுத்த சில வாரத்தில் நடக்கும் போது விழுவது அதிகம் நடந்தது. குழந்தை ‘வீக்’ காக இருக்கலாம் என்று பாட்டி சொல்ல, ஊட்ட சத்து அதிகம் கொடுத்தார்கள். அனாலும் அவன் விழுவது தினமும் நடந்தது. எழுந்திருக்க சிரமப்பட்டான்

Mannargudi S. Ranganathan of the Cauvery Delta Farmers Association says that the Cauvery protests are instigated by vested interests. In an interview to E.T.B. Sivapriyan, Mr Ranganathan, one of the first to move the Supreme Court on the Cauvery issue, says there will come a time soon when farmers of the delta region will cultivate other crops like millets rather than depend upon water-consuming paddy.

Hero is a very strong word, but it fits 34-year-old Narayanan Krishnan perfectly. During the last 12 years, he has served over 1.5 million meals to India’s homeless, mostly people abandoned by their families, either suffering from mental conditions or too old to care for
themselves.
Back in 2002, young Narayanan Krishnan was already an award-winning chef working in a high-class restaurant for the prestigious Taj Hotels, and close to securing a job with another 5-star hotel, in Switzerland. Just before heading off to Europe, he traveled to his home town of Madurai, to visit his parents, where witnessed a scene that changed the course of his life forever. “I saw a very old man eating his own human waste for food,” Krishnan told CNN. “It really hurt me so much. I was literally shocked for a second. After that, I started feeding that man and decided this is what I should do the rest of my lifetime.”

Matha Trust Krishnamoorthy – In service of Cancer patients
The terminally ill are broken in body. And it does not take much to break their spirit. They easily give in to depression when their families discard them.
Srimatha Cancer Care, a charitable organisation in Indira Nagar, has taken into its fold several such terminally ill patients, when they were at the jaws of death and uncared for. It has provided palliative care to them and breathed some joy into their sad lives.
